On Monday, Russia sent additional military police units of about 300 soldiers to Hasakah province in northeastern Syria.

Dmitri Suntsov, the head of one of the joint Russian-Syrian observation posts said that the main goal of this measure is to strengthen the joint observation points with the Syrian armed forces and to contribute to the de-escalation of the conflict in the region.

He added that Russian soldiers will oversee compliance with the terms of the ceasefire and provide all kinds of assistance to the local population.
