The SDF Press Center said in a statement that an ISIS leader was killed in an operation carried out in the village of El Cerzî in Deir ez-Zor.
The Democratic Syrian Forces (SDF) Press Center issued a statement about an operation carried out in Deir ez-Zor.
The statement said: “As part of the fight against ISIS cells, the Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT) carried out an operation with the air support of the International Coalition Forces.”
The statement continued: “On 7 January, an operation was carried out against an ISIS leader in the village of El Cerzî in Deir ez-Zor. Our forces raided the house where Mihemed Etiye, known as Ebî Mehmûd, was hiding. Despite a call made by our forces to surrender, he opened fire on them. As a result of the fire exchange, the gang leader was killed.”
According to the statement, Ebî Mehmûd took part in operations targeting security, military and civilian institution employees of the Deir ez-Zor Civilian Council.
During the SDF operation, weapons and ammunition were seized in the man’s house.
