‘Ankara is trying to turn Europe into Turkey’: HDP co-chair

HDP co-chair Mithat Sancar said in his parliamentary group address that the Turkish administration uses the issue of Sweden and Finland's accession to NATO to impose its policies of war and repression on the whole world.

Co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) said on Tuesday that the Turkish administration intends to impose its policies of war and repression to other countries in the context of negotiations regarding accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO.

Mithat Sancar said in his speech at HDP’s parliamentary group meeting:

“The outcomes of these policies has been economic collapse, poverty for the majority of the people, suspension of almost all freedoms, liquidation of democratic institutions. And now the power block in Turkey intends to use the issue of Sweden and Finland joining NATO to make the whole world accept these policies.”

He added:

“Now they are trying to turn Europe and the world into Turkey.”
