Activists call to protest visit by Turkish Defense Minister in Berlin

The “Free Kurdish Community Berlin” calls for a protest against the visit of the Turkish Defense Minister in Berlin tomorrow, Tuesday.

The "Free Kurdish Community Berlin" calls for a protest against the visit of the Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Tuesday in Berlin. “Join the protest and support our demands”, said the Community calling on people to meet in front of the Federal Ministry of Defense at Stauffenbergstrasse 18 in Berlin on Tuesday at 12.30 p.m.

The "Free Kurdish Community Berlin" calls on the federal government to stop all political and military support for Turkey. "Turkey must be sanctioned for its crimes - all arms deals with Ankara must be stopped immediately," said the Community in a press release.

The call to join the protest continues: “The Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar is coming to Berlin tomorrow, 2 February 2021, to meet with his counterpart Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer. We are sure that this meeting will also deal with the wars that Turkey is waging against the Kurdish population in Rojava / North and East Syria and South Kurdistan / North Iraq. Akar went very recently to Iraq to solicit support for a possible military action by Turkey in the Yazidi region of Shengal (Sinjar). The population there was the victim of a genocidal attack by ISIS in August 2014. Since then, the population of Shengal has liberated their homeland and built up their own self-government. The Turkish threats of war are therefore tantamount to a continuation of the ISIS genocide of the Yazidis.”

The statement adds: “Turkey has already occupied large parts of North and East Syria. In these areas, which were brought under the control of the Turkish state with the help of German weapons, the everyday terror carried out by the Islamist groups, which act as partners of Turkey, prevails. Kidnappings, rape and ethnic displacement occur every day. Amnesty International has already reported on the crimes of Turkey in the Afrin region, which has been occupied since 2018.

Turkey is planning more wars and crimes. And it wants the support of the German Federal Government for this. We stand against Turkey's dirty wars and call on the German government to end all political and military support for Turkey. Turkey must be sanctioned for its crimes - all arms deals with Ankara must be stopped immediately.”
