Slavoj Žižek to lecture in Kobani University
Marxist sociologist, philosopher and cultural critic Slavoj Žižek will give an online lecture for Kobani University.
Titled “Is democracy still an option today?” the lecture will be delivered on 18 April. It will begin at 20.00 local time and will be broadcast live on the university’s social media accounts, according to Hawar News Agency.
Kobani University was opened in North East Syria on 10 December 2017.
Slavoj Žižek
Slavoj Žižek is a Slovenian philosopher, a researcher at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Arts, and international director of the University of London’s Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities.
He is also Global Eminent Scholar at Kyung Hee University in Seoul and Global Distinguished Professor of German at New York University.
His wide-ranging work covers subjects such as continental philosophy, psychoanalysis, political theory, cultural studies, art criticism, film criticism, Marxism, Hegelianism and theology.
