Sixth New York Kurdish film festival starts in New York 14-16 October

The movies Neighbours by Mano Khalik, The Dance of Ali and Zin by Mehmet Ali Konar, Voices and Locks by İlham Bakır and Damned Employer by Kiumars Sobhani will come to the big screen during the 6th Kurdish Film Festival in New York.

The sixth annual New York Kurdish Film Festival (NYKFF) will take place at the historic Angelika Theater in Greenwich village between 14 and 16 October.

NYKFF dedicates its sixth annual programme to the memory of Jîna Amînî, a 22 year-old Kurdish woman brutally killed by Iranian police.

The festival plans to offer a range of long and short films, fiction and documentaries that represent the situations of Kurdish people in Kurdistan and elsewhere in the world.

As a presentation of the New York Kurdish Cultural Center, this year the movies Neighbours by Mano Khalik, The Dance of Ali and Zin by Mehmet Ali Konar, Voices and Locks by İlham Bakır, Pathway by Lina Raza and Damned Employer by Kiumars Sobhani will come to the big screen.

This year the festival will also include a programme for children, and Hut, a work by İbrahim Yildirim, will be screened.

The fifth festival, held in Septmber last year, focused on Kurdish women and their efforts to create an equitable, more humane and just society in the regions where Kurds live.
