The YPJ spokesperson Ruksen Mihamed and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi will speak at the Catalan Parliament on Thursday. The event is organized to mark the 2nd anniversary of the recognition of the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria by the Parliament of Catalonia.

The motion presented by Esquerra Republicana, Junts per Catalunya, En Comun Podemos and Cup, said: “The Parliament of Catalunya recognises the existence of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria based on Democratic Confederalism as a political subject and urges the Catalan institutions to establish institutional relations with this administration.”

The motion also said: “[The Parliament of Catalonia] underlines the potential value of Democratic Confederalism as a peaceful, inclusive, democratic and co-existence for the Middle East based on municipalism, feminism and social environmentalism.

The Parliament of Catalonia calls on the institutions, the civil society and the citizens to promote a solidarity network to participate in the reconstruction of the region through brotherhood with its citizens, both for the material reconstruction and the welcoming – temporary or permanent – of refugees.”

Finally, the motion “urges the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia to create a table of different administrations, civil society and organisations to promote such a solidarity network.”
