The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) briefed the visiting Belgian government delegation about the most important developments in the region, and the international parties' vision for solving to the Syrian crisis. We discussed some files related to European countries and "the trial of ISIS mercenaries and their families file."

The briefing came from a delegation of the Belgian Federal Parliament during the meeting that brought the two parties together on Friday, in Qamishlo, in NE Syria, after the visiting delegation arrived this morning in the region via the Semalka Border Crossing.

The delegation met with the "SDF" after meeting officials of the External Relations Department in the Autonomous Administration.

The meeting was attended by "Members of the Belgian Federal Parliament, Georges Dalmani, Queen Mesto, Director of the International Association of Victims of Terrorism, Philip Vanstetkisti, and a member of the Association, Rudi Malek, and CEO of Child Focus Support and Prevention of Missing, Abducted and Sexually Exploited Children", Heidi De Paolo.

The SDC's delegation included "the head of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council, Ilham Ahmed, the deputy of the Presidency Council, Hikmat Habib, the Co-chair of the Public Relations Office of the Syrian Democratic Council, Jihad Omar, and a member of the Presidency Council in SDC, Ilham Metli

The two sides focused on a number of important files for the Autonomous Administration in the North and East Syria(AANES), the most important of which are the "the Syrian crisis and ways to solve it, the representation of the AANES in the future of the region, ISIS detainees and their families, the mechanism for supporting the region, and bilateral means of cooperation."

Concerning the key points of talks, the Co-chair of the Public Relations Office of the Syrian Democratic Council, Jihad Omar, spoke to Hawar after the meeting, and said, “We explained to the visiting delegation about the SDC's activities in the region and the last conference, namely the National Conference for the people of the Al-Jazeera and the Euphrates. "

He added, "We also dealt with the Syrian situation in general, and we talked about the mechanism of a solution, and also discussed the Geneva issue. For their part, the delegation expressed their willingness to help the region on the political level, and the file of the trial of ISIS and the mercenary families.

He continued, "We stressed the need for a Belgian diplomatic representation in the region as it will encourage some other parties, organizations and forces to take such a step."

Omar indicated that they proposed to the visiting delegation the Autonomous Administration project to be the ideal model for resolving the Syrian crisis, so that Syria enjoys a democratic decentralization within a unified Syria.

Regarding the Belgian delegation agenda, Omar said, "They had ideas and projects for the region centered on aid and continued support, especially the file of the trial of ISIS mercenaries, and they had a good idea in this endeavor, and we consider it a good step" without disclosing it.

He added, "They will discuss it with the Autonomous Administration and the judicial authorities, and we believe that it will be a good start in this endeavor for European countries in the region, and we hope to bear fruits soon."
