Stating that the Turkish state, targets civilians indiscriminately to prepare the region for occupation by depopulating it, KNK called on all Kurdish forces and Iraqi authorities to take a strong stance against these attacks.
The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Executive Council condemned the killing of two civilians by warplanes in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). “The occupying Turkish state, encouraged by the help and cooperation of the KDP government and its officials, is massacring Kurds,” the KNK said, addressing the Iraqi state and all Kurdistan forces.
The statement released by the KNK Executive Council on Friday is as follows: “On February 21, 2024, warplanes of the occupying Turkish state once again attacked civilians in the Behdînan region and martyred two of our citizens, Bashir Umer Ali and Arif Teha from the Kafya village of Dinart. The martyrs were civilians and were working in their gardens and fields.
It is not the first time that the occupying state targets civilians with such attacks. In recent years, nearly 1500 civilians in the same region have been subjected to such attacks and lost their lives. As the Kurdistan National Congress, we condemn these attacks and offer our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
The aims and objectives of the Turkish state’s attacks are very clear; it wants to target all civilians indiscriminately and commit genocide, to depopulate the region and prepare it for occupation.
We therefore call on all the Kurdish forces that defend and protect the interests of the people of Kurdistan to take a strong stand against and condemn these attacks!”
