The KCDK-E said that they will be holding actions in many European cities on 25 June to demand the end of more than 25 years of isolation, torture and lawlessness against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The Congress of Democratic Societies of Kurdistan in Europe (KCDK-E) said in a statement that they will be holding actions in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, England and Belgium tomorrow, 25 June to demand the end of more than 25 years of isolation, torture and lawlessness against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The KCDK-E said: “On the occasion of the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg, which will complete its 12th year tomorrow, 25 June, the Kurds and their friends will take to the streets in many cities of Europe to protest isolation and lawlessness.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, which has been going on for 12 years and is the longest protest by Kurds, is the expression of the determined stance of the Kurdish people. The activists mobilized from all over Europe to attend the vigil.”

The statement added: “Today, the vigil in Strasbourg has become the pillar of our global freedom movement. We will salute Leader Öcalan, the architect of the great historical resistance in Imralı, thousands of times in Strasbourg every day.

The disciplinary penalties put forward as an excuse for the isolation imposed on our Leader are to prevent him from meeting with his family and lawyers, but also to prevent him from having a retrial and gaining his physical freedom through the “Right to Hope”. This is not an acceptable situation.

A great resistance continues in Imrali. This resistance is against both international conspiracy forces and the genocidal system of the Turkish state. This determined resistance carried out by Leader Apo continues on the basis of the trial and condemnation of the colonialist and genocidal Turkish state.

For this reason, we must continue to expose the Turkish state, which does not recognize law and morality, by spreading this great resistance from Imrali to the whole world. We must bring the struggle to a conclusion with new tools, including law, by highlighting all possibilities at the highest level.”

The statement continued: “Imrali torture system and regime is not legitimate and we do not accept it. We must unmask the genocidal Turkish state by exposing the Imrali system, which is carried out in complete lawlessness and injustice.

We must force the CPT, the Council of Europe and the institutions that directly and indirectly contributed to the isolation to take a stand. For this reason, we must expand our initiative together with the democratic circles around the world who participate in the global freedom initiative called Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question.”
