Day 27 of War: Strikes Continue, the Negotiation Enigma

As the conflict in the Middle East enters its fourth week, tensions have surged to a new threshold. Mutual strikes, threats, conflicting claims about negotiations, and an ongoing military build-up are painting an increasingly explosive picture.

Air Defense on Full Alert Across Central Israel

Following the launch of new missiles from Iranian territory, the Israeli military reported that its air defense systems were placed on full operational readiness. An official statement noted that interception systems are actively working to neutralize incoming threats. This latest strike marks a new escalation in Israel’s ongoing campaign of retaliatory strikes against Iranian territory.

Two Dead in Abu Dhabi After Intercepted Missile Debris Falls

The crisis is not contained to Israel. The UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems responded to missiles and drones of Iranian origin. Authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed that debris from an intercepted projectile killed two unidentified individuals and wounded three others, with several vehicles also sustaining damage.

Iran-Backed Groups Threaten US Bases Across the Gulf

Meanwhile, Iran-backed armed factions in Iraq are intensifying their operations. A spokesman for Saraya Awliya al-Dam, a group affiliated with the Iraqi Islamic Resistance Movement, stated that their forces are targeting US military presence in Gulf states and Jordan. According to the spokesman, Washington’s plan to deploy 5,000 additional troops to the region compels them to carry out intensified operations against those forces wherever they are stationed.

Tehran Slams the Door on Diplomacy

On the diplomatic front, Iran has firmly closed the door on American proposals. The Iranian government officially rejected a 15-point peace plan reportedly transmitted through Pakistan.

”Even discussing negotiations is tantamount to admitting defeat.”
— Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Foreign Minister

Araghchi added that his country seeks to end the war “on its own terms,” in a manner that ensures such a scenario is never repeated.

⚠️ New Threat: Iran warned that in the event of a ground invasion, the conflict could spread geographically — with a potential “new front” opening at the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea, a critical chokepoint for global trade and energy shipping.

Contradictory Signals from Trump — Fresh Troops Head to the Gulf

US President Donald Trump continues to send mixed messages. On one hand, he has expressed optimism about possible talks potentially beginning in Islamabad this week. On the other, he maintains hard-line threats against Tehran — with the White House warning that “the gates of hell will open” if Iran makes “a wrong calculation.”

”They are negotiating — they genuinely want a deal. But they’re afraid to say it out loud, because they think their own people will kill them.”
— Donald Trump, President of the United States

Tehran categorically denies any ongoing contact with Washington. At the same time, the US is dispatching fresh military reinforcements to the Gulf: a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and a paratroop brigade from the 82nd Airborne Division. Combined with existing forces, the number of American troops available for potential ground operations in the region now stands at approximately 8,000 — assessed to be positioned for limited, targeted land operations.

The Human Toll Grows Heavier by the Day

According to data from the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), at least 1,455 civilians have been killed since hostilities began on February 28, including 217 children. On the American side, US Central Command (CentCom) reports 290 wounded troops — 10 in critical condition, 255 returned to duty — and 13 soldiers killed (7 in the Gulf, 6 in Iraq). In Israel, emergency services and official sources confirmed 16 civilian deaths since the start of the war.
