The Armenian Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Brigade reaffirmed its commitment on Sunday to defending Kurdish-led North and East Syria (Rojava) against attacks, highlighting solidarity amid ongoing violence.
On Sunday, the Armenian Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Brigade released a video message reiterating its role in defending the revolution in North and East Syria (Rojava) against escalating violence. Named after Nubar Ozanyan, an Armenian fighter martyred in 2017 during battles against ISIS, the brigade honours his legacy by maintaining an active presence on the frontlines.
“We are on the frontline in Kobani (Kobanê) to defend our country and our people. We are all united, all comrades, all peoples,” the brigade declared. “We defend the Rojava Revolution to stop the massacres.”
Their words reflect fears expressed by the Armenian and Assyrian communities in the Al-Hasakah (Hesekê) governorate, who believe Turkey’s ongoing attacks and ethnic-targeted violence are reminiscent of the 1915 massacre of Christians.

The Armenian community in North and East Syria declared a general mobilisation earlier this month, warning that Turkey’s military operations under Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reflect neo-Ottoman territorial ambitions. Turkish bombings and attacks by Ankara-backed militias have intensified in the region, particularly around Kobani (Kobanê), a stronghold of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

The Armenian Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Brigade emphasised its determination to stand with all peoples of the region to protect Rojava’s achievements and halt aggression.
