According to HPG, three Turkish soldiers were killed in guerrilla actions in Zap and Metîna, and a Sikorsky aircraft was also shot at. Fighter jets and helicopters attacked different areas of South Kurdistan.
The Press Center of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) has published a war balance of the past few days in Medya Defense Areas. According to the statement, which covers the period between 21 and 23 September, three members of the Turkish occupation forces were killed in guerrilla actions in the Zap and Metîna regions.
In one case, a soldier was caught while expanding a military position in the Girê Amêdî resistance area, and a second was fatally wounded in an action in Şêlazê. In Girê Cûdî, the guerrillas targeted a Turkish army transport helicopter on Monday evening. The Sikorsky helicopter was hit and had to turn around. According to HPG, another action took place in Xakurke. There, fighters from the Free Women’s Units (YJA Star) fired at soldiers moving in Girê Şehîd Hêmin.
Regarding the recent attacks by the Turkish army in South Kurdistan, the HPG said that its tunnel systems in Girê Cûdî on the western front of the Zap region were bombed twice with banned weapons. In addition, the HPG recorded 25 air strikes with fighter jets and 19 attacks with combat helicopters. Targets were hit in the Qendîl Mountains as well as in Xakurke, Gare, Metîna and Zap. Most of the aerial bombardments, 21 in total, were directed against parts of Xakurke.
In addition to guerrilla areas, the Turkish air force also targeted civilian settlements. No information is available on the extent of the damage.
