Turkey steps up military attacks on Kurdish refugees after US operation killing ISIS leader

Turkish planes bombed several villages in Shehba in Syria following the news of the US airborne operation to kill the ISIS leader in Turkish controlled Idlib province. A school was also badly damaged in the Turkish military airstrikes.

“As the HDP, we condemn the attacks on Shingal (Sinjar), Maxmur and Derik. The timing of these attacks, coming right after the recent ISIS attack in Hasekê, clearly shows that the AKP government, in cooperation with ISIS, has started a new operation targeting Kurds.” HDP said.

The Co-Chair of the KCK Executive Council also issued a statement regarding the ongoing simultaneous operations of Turkey against Rojava, Shengal and Makhmour.

“Coalition forces, especially the United States, allow Turkish warplanes, the number one partner and ally of ISIS, which is attacking the people of Rojava, Shengal and Makhmour and self-defense forces who are resisting ISIS. The attacks on Rojava, Shengal and Makhmour have inflicted many massacres so far. The silence of the United States, Russia and all coalition forces and their failure to take a stand means they are also complicit in these attacks and murders.” the KCK stated and added that they will continue to resist against the attacks.
