There is investigation for those who post the news about the rape but no for the perpetrators of rape

The police announced that they launched an investigation against the people who shared the news about the charged rape of a child by 27 people including soldiers, police and village guards in Gercüş. Batman Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor contented itself with saying only "No suspect has been identified as a public official".

With the news published on December 5, our agency revealed that 27 people ( including soldiers, police and village guards)  allegedly raped a child and two women were forced into prostitution by them in the Gercüş district of Batman. While only 11 out of 27 suspects were named in the investigation file, a broadcast ban held on our news. Then instead of starting an effective investigation against other suspects, the police announced that they started an investigation against those who asked what happened in Gercüş.

With its statement, the General Directorate of Security claimed that “disinformation was made” on social media and announced that an investigation held on against 27 people who shared about news.

Batman Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which made a statement on the subject, did not make a statement that the allegations would be investigated, but “Shares and claims published by some media organizations do not reflect the truth. No suspects who were public officials were identified in the investigation, ” they said.

Criminal complaint about broadcasters

In the statement made by the Governorship, “In some media organizations and social media platforms, it is completely false and purposeful; It is claimed that our soldiers, police and village guards were involved. A criminal complaint will be filed against the media organizations that continue to broadcast despite the decision of the Gercüş Criminal Court of Peace and those who try to spread these fake news on social media”.
