SDF reported that the Turkish state is expanding its presence by establishing new military bases, exploiting the power vacuum and the weakness of the Syrian government in Damascus.

The Press Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported that the Turkish occupation continues to escalate its attacks in northern and eastern Syria despite international efforts to broker a ceasefire across Syria.

Simultaneously, SDF said, the Turkish state is expanding its presence by establishing new military bases, exploiting the power vacuum and the weakness of the Syrian government in Damascus.

The SDF statement on Thursday said:

“In areas south and east of Manbij, as well as around Kobani, the Turkish occupation is covertly transporting equipment and supplies under the cover of night to construct new military bases. Notable locations include Qara Qwzaq Hill, the western bank of the Euphrates River, and the village of Hassan Agha, southeast of Manbij.

Although Turkey already operates more than 200 military bases in Syria—housing tens of thousands of soldiers, intelligence units, advanced radar systems, tanks, surveillance technology, and spying devices—it continues to employ secrecy in its latest expansion. Reports indicate that Turkish occupation forces are deliberately avoiding the display of their flags or banners at these new sites.
Drone footage shows that multiple military bases are under construction across a vast geographical area. These installations include watchtowers, fortified positions for tanks and artillery, and troop headquarters. While some bases are still being developed, others appear to be fully completed.

The primary objectives of these bases are to strengthen Turkey’s occupation foothold in Syria, facilitate ongoing attacks in northern and eastern regions, and advance further into Syrian territory. This expansion suggests a long-term occupying strategy aimed at consolidating Turkish control over parts of Syria and entrenching its military presence for the foreseeable future.”
