Rocket attack launched on Turkish border

The day after Turkish airstrikes on the Kurdish autonomous region in north and east Syria, rocket attacks have been launched on Öncüpınar Border Gate and Karkamış in Gaziantep, a city in Turkey, and eight state officers injured.

A rocket attack on the Öncüpınar Border Gate, in the southeast of Turkey, has injured 8 people including a police commissioner, police officers, and security personnel, Mezopotamya News Agency reports.

The day after the 20 November Turkish airstrikes on the Kurdish autonomous region in north and east Syria, rocket attacks have been launched on the Öncüpınar Border Gate and Karkamış in the city of Gaziantep, Turkey.

Stating that the rockets came from Till Rifat in north and east Syria, the Turkish Interior Minister stated that security measurements were raised in the region.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the rocket attack, it appears it may be in retaliation for Turkey’s bombardment of north and east Syria on Sunday.

As Turkey accused Kurdish groups of being responsible for the blast in central Istanbul on 13 November that killed six shoppers, the Turkish National Defence Ministry announced its military operation to north and east Syria saying “it is time to revenge”.

Turkey’s airstrikes on Sunday have killed civilians and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) soldiers.

SDF published a statement after Turkey’s renewed aggression in the region and said, “These attacks will not go unanswered,” and added, “At the appropriate time and place, we will respond forcefully and effectively.”
