Manbij Military Council destroys Turkish tank

North of Manbij, a Turkish tank was destroyed by fighters of the Military Council while attempting to enter the autonomous area. The ensuing fighting continues, and residents of neighboring villages have been evacuated.

In the northern Syrian city of Manbij, a tank belonging to the Turkish army and allied Islamists was destroyed by members of the local military council on Monday. The Council reported in the evening that the occupants had attempted to enter the village of al-Jad. The village, about 20 kilometers north of the city, is strategically located on the Sajur River, which effectively forms the border between the autonomous area and the occupied zone.

At the same time as the infiltration attempt, heavy artillery shelling began on al-Jad and neighboring village al-Hawshariyah. The Military Council counted at least nineteen mortar hits late in the evening. The ensuing fighting continues, and the villagers have been evacuated. It was initially unclear whether civilians or military council fighters were harmed.
