Kurds protest chemical attacks in Sydney

The Turkish chemical attacks against the guerrilla forces were protested by the Kurds and their friends living in Sydney.

A protest against the use of chemical weapons by Turkey was organized by the Sydney Democratic Kurdish Community Centre (DKTM). The action took place in the Town Hall square.

Delivering a speech during the protest, DKTM Co-Chair Gülê Ros condemned the silence of the European and Australian governments and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Ros warned that the Turkish state would take advantage of the international silence and continue mass murders using chemical weapons.

“Human values are being trampled on during the Turkish attacks,” Ros said, calling on everyone with a conscience to raise concern.

DKTM Co-Chair, İsmet Taştan reacted to the KDP's cooperation with the Turkish state and called on all parties in South Kurdistan to take a tougher line.

A columnist of the Green Left Weekly newspaper, Peter Boyle, called on the Australian, US and European governments. “The Turkish state is committing crimes against humanity and war crimes. The ruling powers are ignoring them.” Boyle also called on the OPCW to investigate the crimes committed by the Turkish state.
