Kurds in the Netherlands demand immediate release of protestors detained by the Dutch police
Dutch police detained demonstrators protesting against Turkey's alleged use of chemical weapons in front of the OPCW headquarters in the Hague.
Dutch police arrested 55 people on Friday as Kurdish demonstrators rallied outside the headquarters of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the Hague, Netherlands.
Dozens of protestors gathered near the OPCW headquarters on 3 December, to stage a protest against Turkey for allegedly using chemical weapons in Iraqi Kurdistan against Kurdish fighters and civilians.
While 10 have been injured during the vicious attacks of the police, 55 have been arrested and detained according to Fırat News Agency (ANF).
It has also been reported that activists of the Kurdish Youth Movement in Europe will stage new protests today in Basel, Switzerland, calling for the immediate release of protestors detained by the Dutch police.
The press release announcing the Basel protest once again underlined the need for an independent investigation over allegations accusing Turkey of the use of chemical weapons.
”The OPCW did not take any action regarding the allegations and claims of evidence,” it said. “We have called on international institutions to carry out an independent investigation. We will continue with our actions until all our comrades have been released and the OPCW sends an independent delegation to the region.”
