The invading Turkish state has been carrying out new invasion attacks in South Kurdistan since April 23.
During the invasion attacks carried out in the regions of Metina, Zap and Avashin, trees belonging to the villagers were cut down in a large area and smuggled to Turkey to be sold.
Iraqi President Barham Salih used his Twitter account to underline the violation of Iraq’ sovereignty and the plunder of forests .
President Salih said in a post: “In addition to violations of the right to sovereignty and the forced displacement of civilians from their homes, deforestation in Hirur and Batifa and other areas of the Kurdistan region are both inhumane practices and a crime against the environment. Our task is to establish practical coordination between the federal and regional government to stop these violations and punish those responsible for them.”
