At least 35 Kurdish political activists were arrested in dawn raids in Turkey’s southern city of Adana on Monday, Mezopotamya News Agency (MA) reported.

Adana branch co-chairs of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and the deputy mayor of Adana’s Seyhan district are among those arrested.

The police broke down the doors of homes and offices and conducted house searches, scattering everything around and causing substantial damage in the raids, and subjecting a woman who protested to a naked body search.

Speaking to MA on condition of anonymity, she said:

“I raised my voice. ‘Why are you raising your voice?’ they said, put me in a room alone and subjected me to a naked body search.”

Three more people were arrested in other house raids in the Kurdish-majority city of Diyarbakır (Amed) on Monday.

The police also raided the offices of the Dicle Culture and Arts Association, breaking down the doors of the building and the offices themselves, and seizing computers, hard disks, books and documents.
