Forcibly displaced Afrin refugees in Shehba camps face a humanitarian emergency

At least half of the Kurdish majority population of the city of Afrin with a population of 300,000 were forcibly displaced as internally displaced persons from Afrin to the makeshift camps of Shehba after Turkey invaded and illegally occupied the city in 2018.

Around 250,000 refugees living in camps and overcrowded houses in Shehba have been living under daily threats from both the Syrian and Turkish governments since then.

An embargo imposed by the Damascus Government against those who were forcibly displaced from Afrin to Shehba and Sherawa continues.

In Shehba, the people in makeshift refugee camps and overcrowded houses, have found it almost impossible to now meet even their most basic living needs due to the inhumane embargo imposed by the regime and the Turkish affiliated gangs.

Warning that a massive humanitarian disaster will occur, the people of Afrin reacted to the embargo and state that they are being forced to migrate, once again, from region.
