Event to discuss Germany's role in view of the autocratic development in Turkey

On Friday, an event with the Bundestag candidate Mizgin Ciftci (DIE LINKE) and the activist Hugo Peckes from the #Delegation4Peace will take place in Einbeck. The topic is Germany's responsibility in the face of Turkey's development.

In Einbeck, a discussion event with the Bundestag (German Parliament) candidate Mizgin Ciftci (DIE LINKE) will take place on Friday about Germany's responsibility in view of the autocratic development in Turkey. The discussion will be introduced by Hugo Peckes from the district of Holzminden. Peckes participated as an activist and cameraman in the #Delegation4Peace to South Kurdistan in June.

The announcement of the event says: "Almost 150 people from politics and the human rights movement, journalists and activists, mainly from Europe, traveled to South Kurdistan/North Iraq. The occasion was Turkey's war of aggression on South Kurdistan, which is against international law. In April, the Turkish state launched a far-reaching military offensive in the regions of Metîna, Zap and Avaşîn. To date, the international response to these attacks has been very muted. The Turkish regime is taking advantage of this silence to occupy the autonomous areas in northern and eastern Syria as well.”

The delegation's goal was to break the international silence. At a press conference in Hewlêr (Erbil) on June 14, the international initiative "DEFEND KURDISTAN against the Turkish occupation!" was proclaimed.

"Erdogan is not only transforming Turkey into an autocratic state. Germany's NATO partner is also waging war in the Kurdish areas of northern Syria and northern Iraq. We want to discuss Germany's responsibility in these developments following Hugo's report," Mizgin Ciftci informed about the event. The event will begin at 6 p.m.
