Emin Eliko on the solution of Syria crisis: ‘We want a new Syria where all peoples have representation’

A PYD General Council member calls for the recognition of the Autonomous Administration, saying the democratic model put forward by the AANES is the only solution that will be applicable throughout Syria.

Emin Eliko, a member of the Democratic Union Party’s (PYD) General Council, spoke to ANHA regarding efforts for the international recognition of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

Eliko underlined that since the beginning of the 19th July revolution, which he says defines “the future of a democratic Syria”, not only the ISIS, but also Turkey and affiliated mercenaries have engaged in an organised offensive to destroy the achievements in North and East Syria.

“”Kobane sparked the revolution. YPG and YPJ [Peoples’ Defence Units and Women’s Defence Units] sacrifices a lot to defeat the attacks of Turkey and ISIS. With the endeavours and labour of our martyrs such attacks have been defeated,” he said.

“Turkey has done it all it possibly can to make the revolution fail, but the revolution has been achieved by an alliance of the Kurdish, Arabic and Assyrian peoples. The people own their revolution. No one will be able to defeat the revolution achieved by the blood and tears of the people of northeastern Syria.”

The PYD member says it is impossible to go back to the Syria that existed before 2011. He called out to the governments around the world, but especially to the Arab world, to support the AANES project. “Now is the time to recognise the Autonomous Administration.”

“We want a new Syria where all peoples have representation. We want a Syria where the will of the Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Armenians and Turkmens are all represented. This is such a delicate process that we are passing through. The solution to the Syrian crisis is only possible with the recognition of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.”

The Autonomous Administration is the only model that could achieve the desired democratic change in Syria, according to Eliko. “The Autonomous Administration has protected the people against the attacks launched by Turkey. It was the Autonomous Administration which organised the people and has solved the existing problems.”
