‘Ankara trying to create a corridor for ISIS’: HDP co-chair
Turkish political administration is pursuing a new annexation plan in north Syria, says HDP co-chair Pervin Buldan.
The co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) said on Tuesday that one of the objectives of the planned Turkish military campaign in north Syria is to create a space for the Islamic State (ISIS).
Speaking in the parliamentary group meeting, Pervin Buldan stated that the Turkish administration is pursuing a new annexation plan in north Syria.
She continued:
“We know that they are making efforts to disrupt the democratic, social and cultural integration of the peoples in Rojava, and they try to create a corridor for ISIS by clearing the region of Kurds.”
She added that as the military campaigns begin Ankara is trying to convince the public, by spreading propaganda, that Syrian refugees would be sent back to their country.
“Mass migrations have never been resolved by military means in history,” she stressed.
Noting that the Turkish administration was not able to solve economic problems and was investing in policies of war before the coming elections, Buldan called upon the opposition to stand against these policies.
She said:
“If they do not stand against the war, the opposition will be as responsible as the administration for the destruction that the war will bring.”
