The ISIS leader targeted in the operation was responsible for planning and participating in the terrorist attack on the al-Sina’a Prison in al-Hasakah in January 2022.
On August 22, the Counter-terrorism unit (YAT) of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) conducted a targeted anti-ISIS operation with the support and participation of the Coalition forces.
According to SDF Media Center, the operation targeted a dangerous ISIS leader called Muhammad Ahmed al-Hassan, aka Omar al-Shami, who was responsible for planning and participating in the terrorist attack on the al-Sina’a Prison in al-Hasakah in January 2022.
“Based on precise intelligence, our forces raided the place where the terrorist was hiding in al-Busayrah town, Deir ez-Zor’s eastern countryside. The terrorist refused to answer the call for safe surrender and clashed with our forces who dealt with the situation with the utmost professionalism and successfully eliminated him,” said the SDF statement on Saturday.
During the operation, SDF forces seized 2 smartphones, 1 AK-47 rifle and personal documents.
