Ismail: Russian guarantor never fulfilled obligations
The co-chair’s interview came as a comment on the repeated Turkish bombing of Ain Issa district, and Russia’s position on those attacks.
"The Russian guarantor keeps silent on all attacks against the district and its countryside, according to the Sochi agreement on October 22 of last year," said Hevin Ismail.
Ain Issa district is under almost daily indiscriminate shelling by the Turkish occupier and its mercenaries, and it has intensified since mid-November of this year to target the outskirts and the district center, killing 4 civilians and wounding 13, including children and women.
"The shelling is inconsistent with all international laws, and it has caused panic, especially after the shelling began to directly affect the center of the district," she said.
On the 24th of last month, 3 civilian homes in the western neighborhood were exposed to Turkish shelling, wounding 3 civilians, a woman and her two children," in addition to targeting the Electricity Directorate in the center of the district.
The co-chair of district pointed out to the frequent visits to the Russian base near Ain Issa by delegations of the region to protest the Turkish shelling accompanied by Russian silence.
She stated that Russia, "and every time the Russian side promises them that it will stop these attacks," and added, "Several hours after the delegation's last visit to the base, the outskirts of the district were shelled with more than 30 artillery shells by the Turkish occupier and its mercenaries without the Russian guarantor moving a finger."
The co-chair of district called on the international community and the Russian guarantor to act "to stop these barbaric attacks on the district, if they continue, will cause more waves of displacement of the people."
