Political prisoner Shaker Behrouz sentenced to death as Iran continues to oppress Kurds
As the Iranian regime continues to oppress Kurds, the latest report by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network reveals that Kurdish political prisoner Shaker Behrouz was sentenced to death.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has published a report highlighting rights violations that took place in Iran in September.
According to KHRN, last month, one prisoner was executed in prison, a woman was stoned to death, 14 kolbers (cross border traders) were killed and Kurdish political prisoner Shaker Behrouz was sentenced to death.
Turkey also detained and handed over nine Rojhilatê (Iranian Kurdistan) refugees to the Free Syrian Army (FSA), the report said.
The report also revealed that in September, 52-year-old prisoner Arshad Javdat was executed in Zencan prison. It added that this was the only case in which KHRN had been informed about the news through its sources. But the number of those executed is likely to be higher.
Of the 14 kolbers (cross border traders) killed, the report states that at least eight of them were shot by Iranian border forces in the country’s western borders. On 20 September, it states that the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) also killed two Kurdish kolbers named Sozdar Ahmadi and Alishan Ahmadi in the border area between Turkey and Iran’s Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.
In September, it confirmed that Iranian security forces arrested at least 12 civilians and four activists in Rojhilatê.
Emir Hisên Hatemi, a 23-year-old Kurdish prisoner in Feşfuye Prison in Tehran, also reportedly died as a result of the torture he was subjected to.
