As media attention focused on Ukraine, Turkey carries out drone attack in NE Syria
As the world's attention is firmly focused on Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a Turkish drone missile strike targeted a civilian vehicle in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria injuring 4.
On the same day as Russia has invaded Ukraine, four people, including 3 women were injured in a drone strike on a civilian vehicle at the Qamishli-Amude road in North East Syria today (Feb. 24).
Turkey has been held responsible for the drone missile strike that injured four people inside a civilian vehicle near Qamishli. The people injured in the civilian vehicle on the Qamishli-Amude road have been identified as Daliya Şêxmûs (20), Roza Hemo (38) and Menîfe Himêdî (33), Mesopotamia News Agency (MA) reported.
Turkey continues to target multiple locations through a series of drone strikes targeting the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the Sengal region.
Turkey has been targeting urban centres with drone missile strikes since the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the armed force of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), defeated the Islamic State (ISIS) in October 2017.
Many people have died as a result of Turkey’s continuous drone attacks in a series of airstrikes conducted in territories controlled by the AANES despite a 2019 cease-fire negotiated by the United States.
Turkey’s strikes have killed at least 15 people in northern Syria since August.

10 November 2021: Three people from the same family were killed in a Turkish drone strike on Tuesday in a neighbourhood of Qamishli on the Syria-Turkey border.
October 2021: Three civilians were killed in a vehicle on the Kobane-Aleppo road in a Turkish drone strike on 23 October 2021, while two were killed and three injured earlier in an attack on 20 October 2021.
9 November 2021: Four civilians, including a prominent political figure, were killed in a Turkish airstrike on 9 November 2021 in the city of Qamishli.
According to Mazlum Abdi, commander of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Turkey continues its airstrikes aiming to keep tension high in North East
Syria mainly targeting civilians. “The airstrikes are a continuation of Turkey’s occupation policies targeting the security and safety in north and east Syria where the entire population is in urgent need of stability,” he said.
