Former French Minister: French supporters will assist northeastern Syrian Kurds
Kurds have friends in France ready to provide assistance to northeastern Syria, Bernard Kouchner, former French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, said on Sunday in Syria.
Kurds ‘have friends in France’ ready to provide whatever assistance is required to northeastern Syria, Bernard Kouchner, former French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, said on Sunday at the press conference in Qamishli in northeastern Syria.
A French delegation including politician Kouchner, writers Patrice Franceschi and Roxana Damasionovy went to Rojava for an international workshop organised by the Rojava Centre for Strategic Studies.
Kouchner promised they would provide practical support to the areas of northeastern Syria, and seek to prevent a new Turkish attack on the region by putting pressure on European countries and the international community, North Press reported.
“We will not forget the efforts made by the people of this region during their battles against ISIS,” Kouchner said.
The crisis in the region must not be forgotton amid the ongoing conflict in the West, he added.
Turkey and the extremist Islamic groups have no right to invade the region, French writer Patrice Franceschi also said.
“The real message that we should convey to the international community is that we should keep supporting the regions of northeastern Syria, to prevent Turkey from attacking this region again, at least in the near future,” he added.
